These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a binding legal agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Route Style ("Route Style", "we", "us", "our", or the "Service") governing your access to and use of the Service, available at route.style and subdomains thereof, together with any affiliated or successor properties. By accessing, browsing, or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
1.1 Acceptance. These Terms take effect the first time you access or use the Service and remain in force for so long as you use the Service and thereafter to the extent any provision is expressed to survive termination. 1.2 Eligibility. The Service is not directed at and must not be used by persons under the age of sixteen (16). By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least sixteen (16) years of age, or such higher age as may be required to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, and that you possess the legal capacity and authority to enter into and be bound by these Terms. If you are accessing the Service on behalf of an entity, you represent that you have authority to bind such entity. 1.3 Geographic availability. The Service is offered worldwide via the public internet; however, Route Style makes no representation that the Service or any content displayed on it is appropriate for, available in, or lawful in any particular jurisdiction, and access from jurisdictions where the Service or its content is unlawful is prohibited.
2. The Service
Route Style is a single-page visual discovery platform that surfaces publicly available editorial, travel, fashion, architectural, and fine-art imagery aggregated via third-party public application programming interfaces and open cultural heritage archives. The Service does not host, store, modify, re-encode, or claim authorship of third-party imagery; it transmits the image address and attribution metadata to your browser so that your browser can render the image directly from its original source. The Service operates without account creation and without persistent server-side identification of Users, saving a limited set of preferences in your browser's local storage to improve your experience across sessions.
3. Limited license to use the Service
3.1 Grant. Subject to your continuing compliance with these Terms, Route Style grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. 3.2 Reservation. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by Route Style and its licensors. No licence is granted to you by implication, estoppel, or otherwise. 3.3 Revocation. Route Style may revoke, suspend, or modify this licence at any time, with or without notice, for any reason or for no reason, including without limitation for breach of these Terms.
4. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
You agree not to, and not to permit any third party to, directly or indirectly, engage in any of the following: (a) copy, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any portion of the Service or content displayed thereon, other than as made possible by the Service's intended functionality for your personal, non-commercial use; (b) systematically retrieve, scrape, harvest, or extract data or content from the Service by any automated or manual means, including without limitation through the use of robots, spiders, crawlers, data-mining tools, or bots; (c) interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the Service or its underlying infrastructure, including through denial-of-service attacks, abusive request rates, or circumvention of rate limits; (d) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the Service, to user accounts, to systems or networks connected to the Service, or to any non-public data; (e) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code, object code, or underlying structure, ideas, or algorithms of the Service, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law; (f) remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice, attribution, or branding displayed on the Service or contained within any content delivered by the Service; (g) use the Service to transmit malware, phishing content, spam, unauthorised commercial communications, or content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, infringing, or otherwise objectionable; (h) use the Service in any manner intended to compete with, or substantially replicate the functionality of, the Service; (i) frame, mirror, or embed the Service or any substantial portion thereof within another website or application without our prior written consent; (j) use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation, including export-control, sanctions, privacy, intellectual-property, advertising, or anti-spam laws; or (k) encourage, solicit, or assist any third party in engaging in any of the foregoing.
5. Intellectual property
5.1 Route Style intellectual property. The Service, including its source code, design, layout, compilation, selection, arrangement, and coordination of content, user-interface elements, typography, branding, trade dress, logos, and associated goodwill, together with the "Route Style" and "The High Life" marks, constitute the intellectual property of Route Style and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, trade-dress, and unfair-competition laws. 5.2 Third-party imagery. All third-party imagery displayed through the Service remains the property of the respective photographers, artists, institutions, or rights holders from whose archives or platforms it has been sourced. Each image displays attribution to, and a direct link to, its original source. Licensing terms governing any given image are those of the source platform or institution; to reuse, reproduce, or redistribute any image, you must review and comply with the licensing terms of the source rather than relying on the display on the Service. 5.3 No transfer. Nothing in these Terms transfers any right, title, or interest in any intellectual property to you.
6. User-submitted content
The Service does not routinely invite user-generated content. If you voluntarily submit feedback, suggestions, comments, ideas, or other materials to Route Style (whether via the contact form, email, or otherwise), you hereby grant Route Style a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and exploit such submissions for any purpose, without compensation or attribution. You represent and warrant that any such submission does not infringe the rights of any third party and that you have the authority to grant the foregoing licence.
7. Third-party content, links, and services
The Service displays imagery sourced via public application programming interfaces from third-party platforms, contains outbound links to third-party websites, and may serve third-party advertisements through Google AdSense. Route Style does not endorse, control, maintain, or guarantee the accuracy, legality, safety, quality, or decency of any third-party content, website, product, or service. Access to, reliance on, or transactions entered into with any third party is at your sole risk, and Route Style expressly disclaims all liability arising from or related to such third parties. You are encouraged to review the terms and privacy policies of any third party before engaging with them.
8. Advertising
The Service is supported, in part, by third-party advertising delivered primarily through Google AdSense. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the display of advertisements as set out in these Terms and in the Privacy Policy. Route Style does not control the specific advertisements served and does not endorse any advertiser, product, or service that may appear on the Service. Please refer to the Privacy Policy for information on opting out of personalised advertising.
9. Service availability and modifications
9.1 No guarantee of availability. The Service is provided on an as-available basis. Route Style does not guarantee that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that defects in the Service will be corrected. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, third-party application-programming-interface outages, network interruptions, or events outside Route Style's reasonable control. 9.2 Modifications. Route Style reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or any portion or feature thereof, with or without notice. 9.3 Beta features. Route Style may, from time to time, offer features on an experimental, beta, or preview basis. Such features are provided on an as-is basis, are not subject to any service-level commitment, and may be modified or withdrawn at any time without notice.
10. Disclaimers of warranty
The Service and all content, materials, information, products, and services included on or otherwise made available to you through the Service are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, with all faults, and without warranty of any kind, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Route Style, its affiliates, licensors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, suppliers, and contractors (collectively, the "Route Style Parties") expressly disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, completeness, and freedom from computer viruses or other harmful components. The Route Style Parties make no warranty that the Service will meet your requirements, be available on an uninterrupted, secure, or error-free basis, or be accurate, reliable, free from errors, or capable of being corrected. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from the Route Style Parties or through the Service will create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Route Style Parties be liable to you or to any third party for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including without limitation damages for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, opportunity, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service or any content thereon, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, statute, or otherwise, and whether or not the Route Style Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of the Route Style Parties for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms shall not exceed one hundred United States dollars (USD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; to the extent that such exclusions or limitations are not permitted in your jurisdiction, the liability of the Route Style Parties shall be limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Route Style Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, investigations, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or any applicable law; (c) your infringement of any right of any third party, including intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights; (d) any content or materials you submit to Route Style; and (e) any dispute between you and a third party arising from or relating to your use of the Service. Route Style reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you will cooperate in asserting any available defences.
13. Termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use the Service. Route Style may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including without limitation breach of these Terms. You may terminate your relationship with Route Style at any time by discontinuing use of the Service and clearing Route Style data from your browser's local storage. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature are intended to survive termination, including without limitation Sections 5 (Intellectual property), 6 (User-submitted content), 10 (Disclaimers), 11 (Limitation of liability), 12 (Indemnification), 14 (Governing law and disputes), and this Section 13, shall survive termination.
14. Governing law and dispute resolution
14.1 Governing law. These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. 14.2 Venue. Subject to Section 14.3, you and Route Style agree that the courts of the Province of Alberta shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim or cause of action arising under or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you irrevocably submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objection to venue or inconvenient forum. 14.3 Informal resolution. Before commencing formal proceedings, you agree to first contact Route Style at hello@route.style with a written description of the dispute and to engage in good-faith informal discussions for a period of at least sixty (60) days. 14.4 Class-action waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you and Route Style agree that each may bring claims against the other only in your or its individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. 14.5 Equitable relief. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Route Style may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual-property rights.
15. Digital Millennium Copyright Act notice
Route Style respects the intellectual-property rights of others. If you believe content displayed via the Service infringes a copyright you own or control, you may submit a notice pursuant to the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) or analogous local legislation, to hello@route.style, including the following information: (a) an electronic or physical signature of the person authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; (c) identification of the material alleged to be infringing and its location on the Service; (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the copyright owner's behalf. Because Route Style does not host the imagery it displays, the most effective remedy is usually to submit a takedown request directly to the source platform hosting the material; Route Style will nevertheless respond in good faith to properly formatted notices relating to its own systems.
16. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any of your rights or obligations hereunder without the prior written consent of Route Style. Route Style may freely assign these Terms and any of its rights or obligations hereunder, in whole or in part, without notice to you. Any attempted assignment in violation of this Section shall be null and void.
17. Severability and interpretation
If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The headings in these Terms are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. The words "include", "includes", and "including" shall be deemed to be followed by the words "without limitation". These Terms shall be construed neutrally, without presumption against the drafter.
18. No waiver
No failure or delay by Route Style in exercising any right, power, or privilege under these Terms shall operate as a waiver thereof, and no single or partial exercise of any right, power, or privilege shall preclude any other or further exercise thereof or the exercise of any other right, power, or privilege. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms must be in writing and signed by an authorised representative of Route Style.
19. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other documents expressly incorporated by reference herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and Route Style with respect to the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties, whether written or oral, regarding such subject matter.
20. Changes to these Terms
Route Style may modify these Terms from time to time. The "Last revised" date at the top of these Terms indicates when they were most recently updated. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where reasonably practicable, announced through other means before taking effect. Your continued use of the Service after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service.
